Interesting KK project

Postby buell » Tue Sep 29, 2009 5:40 pm

From a dnc promotional interview:

What’s next for you project-wise? I think I’ve always cheated Drivin N Cryin by trying to do too many different things. I’m just going to focus on this for a while and enjoy it. I’ve got a project with Anton Fier (who co-produced “Bubble Factory”) and Andy Hess (formerly) of Govt Mule that’s almost finished. It’s got a heavy sound, a little country, some ’70s James Gang with slide guitar. And I made this folk album I might be putting out in Europe in February.

Now that Fier/Hess/Kinney project sounds exciting. Add Warren Haynes or Audley Freed and you really got something!

Anyone know anything about this?

I have always wanted KK to do a olde time and/or bluegrass project....especially with the nasal voice thing....would be perfect....think about the feel of "matter of fact".....woudl be great....

I heard a few very early tracks from this the last time I was up for a Truckstop. Kevn's right on when he says the sound is "heavy". Probably the closest thing I've heard that's public is "The Challenge" from the November '08 Truckstop. I was amused to find out that Anton's also a fan of "Bird", and so there's a new rough of it thick with bass+drums and an instrumental jam that clocks in at close to 10 minutes.

Now I could REALLY get down with an album full of that! That IS exciting.

Are you talking about "Bring Home the Bacon"?

Anyways, didn't Kevn have plans at one time for a Kevn Kinney's Olde Tyme Jug Band or something? With some Carolina folks? Maybe the Irion/Guthries?

Personally, I think every acoustic album he makes from here on out should sound like "Flower and the Knife." I'm not a big fan of the songs on that record, but the sound/approach is beautiful, with Warren Haynes's slide playing.

yes, Bring Home the Bacon; I call it matter of fact, sorry.

Share a secret with ya; "Kevn Kinney's Olde Tyme Jug Band" was rumour I started on the old, old, board, 'cause I think he would sound great in a American/ Old Time Jug Band and/or a bluegrass thing.....hence me bringing it back up....where did you get the spelling above of the band name, 'ciuse if I am nt mistaken that was EXACTLY as I had spelled.....

I mena Bluegrass is music, palyed from the heart, sung through the nose........tell me Kevn doesn't have that skill set down! :D

If I never hear or see Johhny play agian it will be too soon.....never have been able to enjoy him....just not my cup of tea I guess....

A rumor you started? You bastard! I was looking forward to that.

I'm not credulous by nature, but there are so few people posting on this board that I take pretty much everything at face value on here.

I guess it's really karma for all of the phony Lord of the Rings casting rumors I floated back in the summer of '99.

I remembered the spelling because I'm second only to Jon Kincaid in elephantine memory.

Hey, you can call it "Matter of Fact" all you want. I wasn't correcting--just wanted to be on the same page.

didn't take it as a correction, all good here.

Yeah, sorry for being a bastard, this was several brds back and I was hoping Jon woudl see it, mention it to kevn and maybe it would plant a seed.

It worked....but only on you.

Next move? Petition Kevn to start yet another side project while DnC is rising again....ha....

At least you and I are on the same page in a few areas!

Thanks for making my day....at least I got somebody with that......talk about an ancient landmine finally going off....
