Tim's Bass Guitars

Postby adamrobison » Wed Dec 16, 2009 10:12 pm

Does anyone what kind of bass Tim is playing in the Can't Promise You The World video? I've never seen this one other than in this video. I know he has the 2 Fender Precisions (White and Brown Sunburst), and Gibson Thunderbird (from the Fly Me Days). Is anyone aware of any other guitars Tim has or has played over the years? Thanks!

Also, what type of amplification does he use?

Did you try the dnc boards? They have a (sparse) Gear forum.

I can't remember the video real well . . . it wasn't a Rickenbacker, was it?

I have the video at home and can check after work.

Amplication is easy (at least getting in the ballpark is easy):

An Ampeg SVT head of unknown vintage (someone on the dnc board would know for sure), and an 8x10 Ampeg cabinet.

Pulled out the video, took a look, and was surprised to see Tim playing a Gretsch bass.

I did some googling, and this is what Tim was playing:

Grestch Hollowbody Bass 6071

Haven't seen too many folks playing Gretsch basses . . . Catherine Popper when she played with the Cardinals. Her replacement in that band. Not sure who else.
