KK Delta Queen (January 30, 2010) DVD available

Postby king_rhoton » Wed Apr 14, 2010 2:59 pm

Welcome to 2010 finally! No doubt everyone's already been enjoying Carlton's audio for this show, and truthfully, video doesn't add too much to a solo show, but here's the DVD anyway. Thanks to Tommy Womack for opening, Jack Gray for bringing a great sound system, and Clay for braving the weather to get Kevn to and from the show. I hope everyone enjoyed the show--Kevn was digging deep!

This is the same offer as always: send your request (please note the title you want--this is the "Kevn @ DeltaQueen" show) and the address where you'd like the disc sent (please split your address into multiple lines for readability) to me (king@drivinncryin.com), and your disc should be sent out shortly.

Thank you King, Gwen, Carlton, Sandra... and all others...
I truly wish I could have been at this show, one of my "hopes" is a riverboat, always thought it would be on the Savannah river or up the Mississippi on their riverboat...
The audio was grand, the dvd is super, i just hate in my hardtimes i can not travel to see kk or dnc, but things are getting better each day... I've missed alot of shows and that is rough considering the shows I was seeing and since ya'll opened it to the public "me too" i just would love to have been there for this... but thank you all for recording, for caring, for keeping live music alive... :D I had no idea it was on a riverboat, tho it wouldn't have changed things, my grandbabies will forever take place over anything in my life... tho i wonder, what difference does it make? Can't wait for the next one King, since you haven't said anything about it much or the setlists or venues or ya know.... :D thanks for being there, i grately welcome what you bring for us...

You must think we actually plan these things in advance or something.... We've still got to work out the details for the SF show in a few months before we can start thinking about what to do with the next SouthEast show. Or maybe Carlton's got it all figured out already and just hasn't told me!

Was I supposed to already be working on it? :?
Well, it's going to be hard to top this last one on the DQ. Although June 12 in San Fran is looking interesting.

Anyone up for a repeat on the Delta Queen towards the end of the year ??

The DVD is great, especially the new stuff. Would love to make it to the Delta Queen next go around.

Great set list, but the video left lots of room for improvement. For example, note that there aren't any rear shots of Kevn's last set, but the full-body camera shows that the rear one's record light was on. Argh. Sony's had that one for repair for two months now.... Double-argh.

We just watched it this weekend and thought it was excellent as well King! Great job! The lighting is really good, and the red curtain behind Kevn gives off a total Twin Peaks vibe. It sucks that camera failed on you, but at least you had a few others running. That was a killer angle. Anyways, keep up the excellent work!

Me too! :D

We love Twin Peaks so much that we are planning on moving to the Portland/Seattle area this year! It's really nice up there, and my uncle lives there too.
The main problem with that is the fact that Kevn doesn't play there very often. How cool was it that Kevn mentioned Twin Peaks on that spoken word track (on PAPD)?!

James: Now I am just jealous! But, you & Paoli can have ALL of the rain that Portland/Seattle gets annually. You do make a good point. Y'all will definitely be missing out on a lot of KK/DNC shows after the move. It was also very cool of Kevn to mention Twin Peaks in that spoken word track on PAPD. Now I'm gonna have to listen to all of the spoken word tracks again because I don't remember which one it was. I actually still have the original box set (all 29 episodes on 6 VHS tapes). I believe it is at least 17 years old. I really need to upgrade to DVD. "The owls are not what they seem." :) Enjoy your weekend!

We went up there last summer and visited most of the TP filming locations - really fun stuff. We also went to Hendrix's grave, Kurt's house on the Puget Sound, etc... The weather was a fairly steady constant drizzle, but I've heard that we actually get about the same amount of rainfall annually here in Mississippi - not quite sure about that. I need to check some stats online.

The newish TP gold box dvd set is very well done. It includes everything except Fire Walk With Me, but it has some great extras. We just started watching Northern Exposure recently. It has a similar small town feel and was filmed like a half hour away from TP.

You guys have a great weekend too - everyone!
